The Merchandiser/Trader The professional merchandiser at Liberty Commodities lives a life that is fast paced, intense and filled with financial opportunity. Our realm is the complex and challenging world of trading. The list of factors influencing agricultural commodities supply and demand is long and difficult to integrate. Supply can, and will, be influenced by weather, growing conditions, government policies and transportation. Contributing to fluctuations in demand are domestic and foreign government import and export policies, the value of the dollar, consumer preference and processing margins. The interaction of all these factors and more affects commodity values. From the risks of volume buying and selling, to the momentary changes in market demand, to the income potential, the merchandiser is in an exciting and unusual career. As a true entrepreneur, directly responsible for your own profit and loss, you control Liberty Commodities' and your own market potential and profit. You earn a fixed percentage of your individual profit from each trade you perform, after expenses. Merchandiser Assistant Liberty hires and trains Merchandiser Assistants as a stepping stone for these individuals to become merchandisers. The training for our profession is primarily on the job. The Merchandiser Assistant reports to a senior merchandiser who oversees his or her work through approximately the first year. After a short initial instruction period the assistant becomes involved in direct customer contact. From that point on, the ability to form positive relationships with our buying and selling customers and your willingness to become an expert in your field determines your success and opportunity to become a merchandiser.
